Picked up new seals at NAPA this morning... They had to be ordered yesterday, but at least NAPA had them for me first thing this morning. Everyone else would only ship to my home, and it would take about a week!!!

Pressed the new rotors onto the hubs, popped in the bearings and new rear seal, and mounted them on the spindles. I still have to set the outer bearing nut & tab lock, then torque the lock nut down before it's 100%, but there's always tomorrow.

My wife is up north at the house enjoying the fall foliage, visiting the grandkids, and going to the fairs, while I sit here working from the crack of dawn to the wee hours of the morning. Maybe get 4 or 5 hours sleep, rinse and repeat.

Looking on the bright side though... Since no one is home at the moment, that means I can go out in the garage and work, when I get home from work.
Quiet work of course... neighbors tend to get mad when they're awakened at 2:AM by the sounds of impact guns, hammers, and air compressors, etc...

Almost done now... Set and torqued the bearing nuts this morning. Installed the locking hubs, and mounted the big giant calipers and pads. Just waiting on a brake hose from NAPA... They ordered the right ones, and the the right ones came in according to the part numbers on the box. Inside the boxes however were two left feet. It happens... in fact it happens all the time to me.

Montana is back on all fours again now Double_Thumbs_Up
Finished up the brakes and stuff this morning, but didn't have time to test anything. I had to leave for work...

I'll bed the new pads and rotors in tomorrow morning and get the old boy out there for a test run. All new brake fluid up front now of course, but I still have to hit the rears first chance I get. The stuff I drained out of the front brake lines was nothing short of nasty, so I can only imagine how bad the fluid is out back.

They fit like new too... it was pretty tricky getting it all back in there. You had to be aligned absolutely perfect or it was no go.... which is a good thing of course.

Finally got a chance to take Montana out for that test drive.
I'm pleased to announce that all is well... so far anyway. Initially the new disc brakes were pulling slightly to the left after bedding them in, but that appears to be clearing up now after putting a few more miles on the old fella. I drove the trunk to work this morning, and will continue to drive it every chance I get for the next few days... Then it's my turn to go north, and yes, I'll be driving up in the truck.

Momma was out picking apples off the tree along side the house here in NH.
Made a couple of Apple Pies this afternoon. One went to our daughters house, and the other to the fella that plows our driveway in the winter.
Mine will be made tomorrow... Still have tons of apples on the tree.

Good Afternoon Y'all...... Nice warm day here in SO-CAL.... 88*
Them Pies sure do look good. Always makes the house smell real nice also !!!! Not sure whats in the pot thats about ready to boil over, but it smells good from here !!! Hahahahaahahahahaha
    I'm making homemade Tacos tonight....
Worked on the Dodge Pick up this morning... Found that my Negative battery came was loose... Guess I must have only tightened it finger tight when I did the Cylinder head Recondition? I was just under the hood checking the fluids and caught it..... So I cleaned it anyway and put it all back together and snuged it up and away we went, off into the Wild Los Angeles Wonder !!!

How did the truck run up the road? Did you get good Fuel Mileage?

    Hey Bob
The truck is doing fine now. Still pulling to the left when braking though. Not all the time, but 50% of the time anyway. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot.
I also want to take a little of the slop out of the new reman steering gear. I like having a little bit of play, but it's a tad too much at the moment.
Didn't check the fuel milage... Maybe I'll check it on the way back to CT... I'm guessing 16-17

Good catch with that ground cable. I had the same thing happen a few months back after maintenance. Drove the truck to work that day, but when I went to leave, the truck was dead! Sure enough, the ground at the battery was loose and flopping around on the post. I put it back on the post that morning, but never tightened it down.

Good Morning Y'all... I'm headed out in the old 1977 Dodge D150 WARLOCK... Off to WalMart and Home Depot.... Trucks running good and I'm driving the piss out of it !!! Hahahahaahaha

Mike: I wonder if you might have got a bad caliper? Maybe not on the pull side. But i'm sure you will get a handle on it soon enough :)
as for the fuel mileage. I'm only getting about 10 avg anymore. But this fuel out this way really sucks and so does the traffic.
Have a good one. Safe Travels !!

Just took this shot of Montana sitting in my driveway here in NH.
Montana use to get 12 mpg, but he's getting better now that I'm fixing and improving stuff.

Was just admiring your RAM (Montana) and noticed how similar the brush guard on it is to the one that was on my father's '49 B series ( I have it now with intentions to install it on my '53 B series). Anyway, is yours a factory brush guard?

I only have one photo of Dad's old '49 showing the brush guard on it.

    49 Dodge.jpg

Here it is in front of my '53 that I'll install it on one of these days.

The wagon pusher on the front of Montana was made by Luverne. They still make guards, but none like mine, not anymore.
I really like the guard off your dad's truck. Thats really Cool!!! That will look great on the 53! Go for it!

Yeah, just have to find the time, as always. So many projects to get done, and I just keep getting slower and slower. As for Dad's brush guard, I'll need to blast it of course before painting and straighten that top middle bar and another one on the bottom middle, but that shouldn't be to hard at all. Everything else is nice and straight like it was from the factory. Then bolt holes in the bumper to mount the guard. Nothing to it!
