Hey, Still waiting on getting my car back. It's been in the shop since April. The trans had a leak and so he redid all the seals and replaced some worn internal parts. He tweaked the carb and timing. He's been trouble shooting the brakes. ABS Brakes in Ca. said the booster/master cylinder were incorrect for my car. So I bought a setup they suggested. 8 inch dual diaphragm, 1 inch bore master cylinder, and a proportioning valve. The parts finally got here Monday and installed perfectly. Started the car and it's a bad booster out of the box......waiting on a replacement.......thanks for asking!!! LOL.......

Well, Momma headed to our home up north with the kittens today.
I'll be heading up that way myself come Monday. I did a bunch of stuff with the truck this week in preparation for the trip north. Front end alignment, readjusted the new steering gear, greased the ball joints, changed the oil & filter, new air filter, new wipers, etc.
Tried to charge the A/C but the compressor is completely out of commission now, and needs to be replaced... oh well... It's 30 years old anyway.

The brakes are now the opposite from what they were. If a moth lands on the brakes you'll go thru the windshield.....plus the pedal travels too far, almost to the floor. I'm going to have the shop go over them again. Maybe a pedal pushrod adjustment.....he converted the system to DOT 5.

So I recharged the A/C in the wife's Pacifica a while back, but it was dead again 3 days later.

When I first charged it, I pulled a vacuum on the system, shut the valves and checked for gross leakage... none, the gages held steady, so I continued to pull a vacuum on the system for another hour to ensure that all moisture was removed from the system. I shut the valves once again to check for leaks... this time letting them sit for 45 minutes... again, no leaks, the gages held steady, so I charged the system.... but as I said, 3 days later it was dead.
Logically, this told me that I have a bad charging connection, so I pulled the cap, and sure enough the suction side cap was full of oil and dye. Everything else looked fine under the Black Light, no leaks detected. The connection is welded to the pipe, so I just put that job on the back burner for a bit.
Well, today I went out to pull a vacuum on the system again before taking things apart and found that I could not maintain a vacuum on the system... huh, that's odd Blink
So I started taking down the system this morning and found a new one at the connection between the dryer and the condenser.
Oh well... new parts on order, should be here Friday afternoon... so maybe Saturday I'll get it all back together.
