- Flap, my nephew just got his 1st mopar (69 Super Bee) & put a built 440 in it. Red & black, Cragars, console...he's on cloud 9 & your Super Bee stories will make him appreciate his Bee that much more. Gotta share one more story, though. In 69, as a senior in HS, my bro, Holly, had a B5 Charger R/T (brand new) & our friend also had a yellow R/T Charger. They were always tryin to do the one-ups-manship on eachother & Holly puts on DP 850 Holley & Kelly does headers. Out on the freeway they go & as they approach the Sahara overpass @ 140, they split traffic & head home. Well, my dad was gettin his haircut from his barber of 20 yrs & the conversation changes to these two Chargers that almost killed him on the freeway. "Must'be been goin 140!" he says. My dad, being an attorney, asks if he got their license #'s & sure enough, my bro was busted. Will never forget the "conversation" Holly & dad had that eve! Anyway, don't think I'll be able to top your blasts from the past, so thanks again for sharing & giving me some huge laughs. Buzz

They were a buck 40 before they got to him, so may've been 110 or 100 when they split past him, but he told dad 140 & holly's license # was a bright white CA30 on the dark blue background. Also told him it was blue w/ a white top & dad knew the yellow one could only be Kelly's. It wasn't the 1st time he got caught. I agree, Flap's stories are awesome & I sure hope has some more Super Bee stories.

The other night there was a kid my age (18-20) driving around in the outskirts of Stillwater, Ok in a white Cadillac Limo. Windows were not tinted at all so you could see right up in there. I figured it was just him and his girlfriend in the front seat.
There was no one around for the next mile or so. I rev my engine in my 2003 Chevy 5.3 liter pickup and he looks at me like "Are you kidding me?" I was saying to myself he can't be that sure about his car. Light turns green and this guy romps on it, squeals his tires a little bit and is GONE! I wish I could have stopped him and got some pictures. I hope to see the car again. I will be sure to have my camera at all times from now on. |

So about a year ago my brother two friends of mine and I are sitting at a What-A-Burger Spreading BS when a chick in a brand new 2009 dodge diesel duelly pulls up she sees me standing beside my 2002 dodge diesel smirks gives me the finger and shoots down Interstate 10 headed for San Antonio Tx in a bit of young male excitment I decided to catch her we all jumped in my truck and took off after her in about two minutes we were beside her she dropped it into gear and floored I let her get about a car length ahead then slammed the pedal through the floor My ole Dodge Hosed out a carbon cloud that probably alerted the EPA and we were gone when I passed her making sure to return her finger I was creepin past 110 when the truck passed 115 like it was rock on the side of the road I experenced what owners of 94-2002 dodge diesels refer to as death wobble ( its what occurs due to the factory steering pump not having enough bracing to counteract the constant vibration of the diesel engine leading to your tie rods giving out thus causing the wheels to toe in and out while moving) so there I was getting my teeth rattled my brother praying to a higher force and my two friends screaming to me to make it stop I lightly jerked the wheel left and right to straighten it out then slowed down and pulled over about two minutes later the chick shows up whining that the truck daddy got her was broken cause my old piece work truck beat her I polietly explained that while her daddy wasted all of his money on her to have a new truck I wasted mine to pull huge loads with ease and make old guys in sports car freak when they see 9,000lbs of 4X4 pick-up sticking to them like glue.
Man what a way to end a boring night. |

I was a teenager in the middle to late 60's in southeast Texas. We had a two lane drive going both ways that we use to race on at night. I had a friend that had a 1966 Dodge Dart GT that was equipped with a 273 4-barrel engine, 4-speed trans. and dual exhaust. The car wasn't a factory D-Dart but ran probably better than one.
My friend had made some modifications to his car like headers, cam and a sure grip 8 3/4 410 rearend. I'm sure he had made some other modifications to his car but they were not visible and he would never say what they were. Anyway he loved to race for money on a marked off section of this drive that was approximately 1/4 mile long. I saw him race 327, 396, & 409 Chevys, 289, 390, 406 Fords, 273, 340, 383, & 440 Mopars and never lose. It got so bad after a while that no one wanted to race him for money. Did he ever lose? Yes but not very often. I saw him lose to a 413 max wedge Plymouth and a 427 Corvette, That was about it. (although their were probably some losses I didn't witness) I would love to have that car today. It was a sleeper that ran like hell! |
