I'm installing a oem disc brake set up in my 69 Charger, I have the 4 piston calipers and all the hardware. the confusion I'm
have come across is the correct brake line set and the correct safety valve and proportioning valve. I was told the are 2 different types. Anyone have both diagrams? Thanks Bruno

Brake proportioning valve # is 2852045 - used on all 69-70 A & B bodies with disc brakes. ( probably same for 68 as well, but someone "borrowed" my 68 book and never returned it ) The tee valve & switch are the same with or w/o disc. My books show no metering valve used on 69 A or B body cars. (only on C body) What do you mean by brake line set specifically? Barry

Hi Thanks for the reply, what happen was I called inline tube and they told me that there was 2 different set ups. I currently have the typical safety valve that all b-body cars came with, i also have the rear proportioning valve that controls the rear brakes. inline tube said some cars had three valves. the only other valve i can imagine is the one on the rear axle. i have the correct 4 piston calipers, rotors, master cyl, brake booster. I don't have the brake lines. Now about my car. Its a 69 charger original 318. so i really don't know the exact placement of everything ( sure i can figure it out but why if i can see it in detail).
so this is my delema. Sorry for troubling you however thanks. Bruno

I am bring a 68 RR back to life and have been in a nightmare regarding disk brakes. On my B body there are 3 valves. One is below the master, one is 2 feet down from the master (2 piece tube going to rear) and one is at the rear feeding rear brakes. I found this out after ordering inline tubes. Ordered 7 piece set, needed 8 piece.

Are you sure the 4-piston setup you have is OEM? unsure.gif There are conversion kits out there that convert drum front brakes to 4-piston disc. They are not the same calipers and I do not know how close the rest is. I have the original front disc brake setup on my 69 Charger R/T and can post tomorrow how many valves are in it after I look tonight.

I looked at my car and there is only one brake/proportioning valve, that I can see (the car is in a garage that I am not able to jack it up to get a full look at all the system) . It is directly below the master cylinder. The brake lines (2) come out of the m/cyl. on the passenger side and go down to the prop. valve. One line goes from the valve to each front wheel, the right side goes across the firewall to get to the right side. One line also goes to the rear drum brakes, ending on the rear axle at a tee fitting that splits to each rear wheel. there is also a rear axle vent on top of this tee. Both front brake lines go to the front brake hoses, then there is a short steel brake line to the calipers. I counted 7, or 9 if you count the hose to calper lines. By the way there is also a single wire switch on the prop. valve.
I just looked at my 69 shop manual and it does show another prop valve. Sorry, I will have to get a better look on another day. As soon as I can, I will post.

I got under the car last night to get a better look. You are correct, there are two connection blocks. One is directly below the master cylinder and the other is about a foot to the rear of the first. According to my factory shop manual, the first is only to turn on a light in the dash if front or rear system would develop a leak causing the switch in it to move to one side which turns on the large E-brake light in the dash. This first block has five lines coming out of it. It mounts vertical, with the mounting bracket to the rear. The lines come out of the M/cyl. on the engine side. The front line from the M/cyl. goes to the lower front of the block. The rear line from the M/cyl. goes to the top of the block. The top front of the block goes to the left front caliper. The top rear of the block goes to the right front wheel. The bottom rear of the block goes to the second junction block, which is the metering valve(about a foot to the rear). The switch on the first block, points to the front and has a single wire on it. There are a total of 8 b/lines on the car or 10 if you count the ones between the front hoses and the calipers. Hope this answers your question. If not let me know. I also have picture of the two block in my shop manual if you are not sure you have the correct ones.
