hey the nerf sounds like it might be a good idea, might piss off a few of the other people on the road but hey... well at least you should have your brakes back by the spring right? then you can drive him all you want again.

Brake parts arrived today. Hopefully I can pick them up on Friday, when I get out of work at a human time.

Now how in the world would any car manage to get in front of you? Any you having engine problems also?

No engine problems here. I just figure that if I continue to drive the way I do, I'll eventually meet someone up ahead.
Luckily I grew up with most of the cops in my town, no speeding tickets from them...

back around 79. I was driving a 64 rambler wagon that was shortened from a 4 door to a 2 door. I was living in San Jose. A few friends and I had had a couple beers and decided to hit the cruise up there. About 15 minutes after I got there I was getting pulled over. I thought. I am on my way to jail. Turns out the cop wanted to buy my car. left me a number to catch him if I changed my mind Here where I am now. Cops are only interested in writing as many tickets as they can. Most of the people interested in my car have been females. Guys don't seem to interested in cars here any more.

Smacaione, both my nieces like to ride around in the Itsy-Bitsy Eclipse with the sunroof open and the tops down. Both of them teenagers. They've never gotten a ticket yet!

I hate to fall into the cliche, but if being a girl gets me out of tickets...I'm not one to complain about it.

Best ever was getting pulled over for speeding 5 times in one month. Got one warning and the other 4 was a simple "Sue, TRY to slow down a bit. (sigh)"

i done know i think that if being a chick would get me out of tickets i wouldnt mind wearing a dress while i drive..... i got my first speeding ticket the other day and i think that if i keep going ill get even more broke than i already am. i guess thats what i get when doing 85 in a 55, the cop was an alright guy though, he wrote it down for 70. still it cost me like 163 bucks which is quite a bit to me, that was in CT. oh well i guess ill just have to invest in a good radar detector

Heck, you can get out of tickets as a guy.
You just have to tell the officer that your underwear rode-up, cutting off circulation to your boys, and you were in the process of re-adjusting them, causing you to inadvertantly apply pressure to the accelerator.

how many times has that worked for you roto? someone once told me that the best way to get a cop to go leanient on you is to tell them the whole truth, cause they most likely know it already. so dont try and bullshit them and you might get off a but easier than normal.

I have to admit. I don't think that would fly here in Calif. If you are polite to the officer and don't stretch the truth to much it seems you have a far better chance of getting out of the ticket when you are a young guy. Now here is one that did get me a break with a 75 in a 30 here a couple years ago. When the cop pulled me over and asked how fast I was going. I told him I didn't know but was sure it was over the speed limit. I said that I normally drive my Suzuki samurai and when I got to drive a V-8 again. I guess I got a little to excited. Told him if he could give me even a little break. It wouldn't happen again. He let me off completely. Telling me to go back to the samurai if I couldn't handle a v-8. I was some where around 47 years old. I didn't care. I dodged a bullet there

Without going thru all the responces, I used to not like them either, we as older adults are living in their world today and have to put up with changes.
Those guys can't have/don't want older logwagon riding cars of the 60s.
My hemi truck has spoiled me verses driving an old car on a 100 mile trip with the family.
Those guys changing to a "cold air intake" is in comparison to setting your points and adding a Accel super coil, but they get real horsepower out of their project.
But what the heck I respect a good looking chromed up low rider too so, really I see the work thats done verses the scene they come out of.

My niece and her boyfriend keep screwing around with the Itsi-Bitsi Eclipse I gave her. In less than one year they managed to messup the ECU and blow up 2 motors. Each time they come back to me and say "Gee, I don't know what we could of done that caused it to blow up?". I relectantly raid the local parts-recycling center and replace the motor for them. When it came time to do the engine swap they were too busy to help! Wasted another couple days of vacation time.

My newphew with his GT3000 twin turbo managed to blow both turbos and spin the mains. Again he asks me to go to the recycling center and pick out another motor for him. When it came time to do the engine swap he was too busy to help! Wasted yet another couple days of vacation time.

Nephew is going to college out-of-state, comes home for Labor Day weekend, he's too busy to take his vehicle to the state inspection station.

Jeepers, back when I was a teenager I did blow my 340 on a Tuesday evening coming home from high school but by Friday night I had transplanted a 318 in it and was off to the movies with my date. Never misssed a day at school or a date!

These kids now adays just want to run the heck out of the cars without taking responsibility for any maintence or repairs.

When I used to work 2nd shift a few years ago, I'd be driving home at midnight. The a/c didn't work in my last truck, so in the high heat of summer, I'd drive home in my bra. Got pulled over a few times but never got a ticket.

Imports dont ruin the sport.....kids do...period.

I have respect for any car properly built. I have friend with 9.9 Evo 2 and let me tell you the car doesnt "feel" fast...it is fast. Complain about imports all you want but when one hands you your ass.......I have notived the V8 guys are the ones who whine like women.

Kids going out and acting like jackasses belong being harassed by cops. Anyone caught acting ignorant on the road does.

I have come to find the people who give me shit for building the imports I have all fit a couple criteria.....
1. They still refuse to believe a 4 cylinder can turn out 10 sec runs (or better).
2. Cant weld or fabricate as far as to even erect a bird feeder.
3. Are the type of people who can only turn a bolt and ADD parts, not actually build a car.

If you want to solve the Import/stupidity age....Raise the age requirement for a License to 21. I see just as dumb shit in the domestic crowds.


You want to know why I like the antique crowds.......Somewhere after 300 hours of labor you forget about who is faster and your more concerned with learning new techniques on how to accomplish your goals and you learn to appreciate other people's labor.

Not really a fan of Riceroni Racers , BUT , I see them as an affordable substitute for the real thing . Not many kids can find or afford a decent A,B,or E body for restoration or hi perf. use. As long as the ricers keep to their own I`m OK with it. Just don`t even start to dis my American muscle !

Not sure if you can consider my 85 Charger a ricer, it is after all a 4 banger. I see it as my small economic fun little town car, and I just love to go after real ricer,, Honda and Volks kids never see me coming and always ask what it is that knock's their socks off I still own a V8 440 Plymouth GranFury for real power but its under restoration right now so I have to get my dose of fun with the Charger. I always owned big cars, 69 Chrysler rag top, 66 New Yorker, 74 Charger, 73 Scamp and many 79-80 Newport's. But I always had a small Omni or Charger and even Rampage has my get to work car. And now it changed to be my summer car, funny how it started with a 100$ go to work car, that I bought to save gas, to a car that is consider a old car but that is made to kick ricers ass

But to answer the main question,, Do Rice Burners screw up our sport? I don't think they do,,, they are a pain in the butt yes, but older RWD V8 cars have their own class to me. And all of us that are in the car hobbies did the same thing that the ricer kids are doing,,, having fun with car that they can afford and that scrap yard have plenty of part.

there still a hemi orange duster that drive in winnipeg so jacked up that i could see his tranny pan from behind!As for the fart pipe equiped ricers,im happy that they are around because they attract the attention of the boys in blue and meanwhile those of us who use their mopar musclecars for what they where built for(having fun!!)can get away with a little more...A couple years ago i was having fun with them with a junker 83 turismo 2.2 5spd,it was a 225$car with a 10$ paint job applied with a roller with zero prep and no floor.Funny thing is i always wasted them!an added unexpected bonus that p.o.s. was getting thumbs up!!

It really depends on what you consider as "rice." I mean I wouldn't mind having one of those new Nissan Skylines but I wouldn't be caught dead in any other japanese car.
