I've stripped down my 1970 GTX and am sanding and cutting out bad spots. Does anyone know of a less expensive place to get replacement panels. I'm going to need a roof skin, trunk lid panel, back window corners and filler patch panels , trunk extensions, trunk pans and lower back quarters.Overall its in pretty good shape. I'm going to replace the metal that it needs before I blast it . Some spots may show up later but the bulk of the work will be done.
I will start a photo gallery on the car as I go so you can see how it's coming along. |

You get what you pay for. The best fitting parts are from Goodmark and Auto Metal Direct. The others are hand formed from thinner metal, from overseas and are not EDP coated. Take you time and budget a fixed amount each month. Before the Obama era I was able to squeeze aproxx $500 a month for my "hobby" now I'm down to less than 1/2 of that. I'm still working on my projects but it just is taking longer. Gives me more time to think before I spend. I find beer is a good "thinking" agent.

i agree the cheaper the piece you get the worse it will fit. remember that after market parts kinda junk anyway and you will need to be able to work with them. so don't try save money on cheap parts.

I wasn't asking because I want "cheap parts" . If you have more than one place to choose from you can buy the same parts from the one selling lower than the others. I don't believe in cheap but I also don't want to pay more than I have to for the parts I get. |

I don't believe in cheap but I also don't want to pay more than I have to for the parts I get. I would go with a reputible source like Auto Metal Direct, Goodmark or Dynacorn. All 3 make good quality products, some even have the "Authenic Restoration Part" tag. I would use BEA Parts for the trim, bling, and little stuff. |

Yearone.com is good for alot of mopar parts. There is a Yearone about 30 min away so I go there for alot of things. Also watch ebay. Some of the sellers do sell genuine mopar parts and some good aftermarket parts. Hope this helps. Mark |

He's around the same price and is giving me a $150.00 discount for paying cash. Can't beat that. |

What type of media is your guy going to use? If you are going to do the whole car I would prolly blast it first before your replace panels because you never know what lurking under the surface....
